Automotive Courses available for VET in schools

  VTECH Automotive Training is a registered WorkReady Provider and is able to deliver training funded by the Training Guarantees under its Automotive Scope with Government Funding

   This page is for Schools and Students who are or are looking to train under a Training Guarantees subsidised by WorkReady funding or Fee for Service Courses

 The training guarantee means there are no tuition fees for your Certificate II qualification. The only  costs you will have to pay are for optional incidental expenses  EG: for      personal items such as clothing , administration fee, resource fee, text books and Training Record Evidence Book needed for your training.

    Please note: That the Student Course Fees and optional incidental expenses are indicative only and subject to confirmation at the time of enrolment.

VTECH offers several Vocational Education Training (VET) Programs to school students around South Australia. These include delivery  of  one day taster, short  courses, Certificate I and II programs either 1 day a week or in blocks of 4 to 5 days.

Locations of training at present are Davoren Park, Strathalbyn, Clare & Bordertown; VTECH has also carried out training in Eyre Pennisula area and other rural locations.   Locations are subject to enrolments.

Skills for All is changing to Work Ready a new skills, training and employment  policy for South Australia.

Students who have commenced training under Skills for All will be able to complete their training on the same terms and Skills for All Training Provider contracts will be honoured.

AUR20716 - Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation - Stage 1

     This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to perform a limited range of tasks related to familiarisation and inspection of mechanical and electrical components and systems of cars, heavy vehicles, outdoor power equipment, bicycles, marine craft and motorcycles. This qualification also covers the skills and knowledge required to perform minor maintenance and repair of an automotive vehicle body. The range of technical skills and knowledge is limited.

     Employment outcomes

     The Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation prepares prospective employees to undertake work in the broader automotive industry.

     Job roles related to this qualification include:

  • trades assistant
  • vehicle service assistant
  • automotive service assistant
  • trainee serviceperson
  • automotive trainee.

  AUR20516 - Certificate II in Automotive Servicing Technology - Stage 1 & 2 - 45 SACE Credits

  • 48 day program covering 20 national accredited units over two years.
  • 120 hrs of research work, project work and task sheets (Outside of VTECH)
  • Certain practical assessments will be undertaken throughout the course with the remainder carried out during the Structured Work Place Learning (SWPL) within the chosen field in the automotive industry.
  • 456hrs / 60 days (30 days per year) minimum of Structured Work Place Learning or until competency is reached. Third party verification signed off with the use of a Training Record Evidence Book (TREB).

    FEE FOR SERVICE COURSES

    These courses are designed for various candidates who do not meet Skills for All  eligibility  or require shorter courses or qualifcations not listed under the Skills for All Funding list.

A VTECH Certificate I includes a requirement of 20 Structured Workplace Learning (SWPL) days.This is a true link to Industry and often leads to employment full or part time      through apprenticeships.

VTECH also offers eligible students Certificate II training for those students who are keen to continue on from their original Certificate I studies

  • 5 day program covering one national accredited units. plus 5 days of Structured Work Place Learning (SWPL) in the Automotive industry.(10 days in total One day a week.
  • Aptitude Assessment & Interview.
  • Work site Induction for each participant.
  • Resources, Workbooks.
  • Mixture of interactive, practical & theory learning.
  • Introduction to workplace expectation.
  • Introduction to Safe Work & Environmental Workplace practices.
  • Career options and career pathways assistance Personal Learning Plan (PLP).
  • Successful completion of the course will result in the student attaining a Statement of Attainment.

AUR10116 - Certificate I in Automotive Vocational Preparation   13 day - stage 1 -20 SACE Credits

  • 13 day program covering nine national accredited units. plus 20 days of Structured Work Place Learning (SWPL) in the Automotive industry.(33 days in total)
  • One day a week.
  • Over one or two semesters.
  • Certain practical assessments will be undertaken throughout the course with the remainder carried out during the Structured Work Place Learning  (SWPL) within the chosen field in the automotive industry- 20 days of Structured Work Place Learning (SWPL) is required.
  • Successful completion of the course which includes SWPL will gain the student the AUR10112 Certificate I in Automotive Vocational Preparation qualification.
  • Students who successfully complete one or more units of competency within this Qualification will receive a Statement of Attainment.
